Biography


Born in Bilbao, he started singing after getting his Bachelor of Medicine. He has participated in several Opera Studio at Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, by notable soprano Renata Scotto, and he has attended several Masterclass by Raul Gimenez, Jaume Aragall or Montserrat Caballé among others.

He has been awarded with the 1st prize in his category at the “Mirna Lacambra” contest in Sabadell and an “Honorable Mention” by jury of the “Mirabent i Magrans” contest in Sitges (Barcelona)


In September 2013 he becomes one of the finalists of the “Montserrat Caballé” International Singing Contest, being the only tenor voice in the final among 350 participants from 140 countries.


He has played the main roles of different belcanto operas such as Tonio (La Fille Du Regiment), Beppe (Rita), Nemorino (L´elisir d´amore), Fernando (La Favorita), Ferrando (Cosí Fan Tutte) in the very begining of his career. His current repertoire  also includes other roles such as Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Elvino (La Sonnambula), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Arnold (Guilllaume Tell), Percy (Anna Bolena),  Arturo (I Puritani), Duca (Rigoletto)


He has acted in several theatres such as Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona), Teatro de la Maestranza (Seville), Auditorio Nacional (Madrid), Theatro Saõ Pedro (Saõ Paulo) Arriaga Antzokia (Bilbao), Teatre La Farandula (Sabadell), Monumental RTVE (Madrid)  among others, with conductors like Sir Andrew Davis, Leopold Hagger, Pedro Halffter, Óliver Díaz, Santiago Serrate, Rubén Gimeno, Daniel Gil De Tejada, Josep Vila, Esteve Nabona, Jon Malaxetxebarria, Pedro Messias, Elio Orciuolo or Inma Shara.


Among belcanto repertoire he has also has played contemporary music, such as the main tenor role of John Adam´s “Dr. Atomic” (Robert Wilson) in his spanish premiere in Teatro de La Maestranza (Seville), and Leopold Schmidt´s “Das Buch mit Sieben Siegeln” with RTVE orchestra live broadcasted and conducted by Leopold Hagger.


He has sung oratory repertoire such as Mozart´s Requiem with UNESCO Barcelona Orchestra, Petite Messe Solennelle (Palau de la Musica), Messiah (Ziortza and UNESCO Barcelona Orchestra) and  Carmina Burana, several times at Palau De La Musica (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 programmed) and in the 25th aniversary of Teatro de La Maestranza (Seville) with Spanish National Orchestra.
